Sara Key (SE)

Director, scriptwriter, producer, actor. Born in 1962. Educated at Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH, 2022-2024), Stockholm Filmschool (2021), Biskps Arnö (scriptwriting, 1995-1996) and Gothenburgh Theatre Academy (1981-1985).

Sara Key is born in Sweden, brought up in East Africa and have worked as an actress and filmmaker in Sweden, Europe and in the USA. After drama school she worked as an actress in television and film as well as at The Royal Dramatic Theatre (Dramaten) and Stockholm City Theatre (Unga Klara and Stadsteatern), in productions such as for example, Varuhuset, Rederiet, Svenska Hjärtan, På Liv och Död, Beck and Silvermannen.

After Biskops Arnö Script Writing education she has written scripts for film as well as plays for the stage. 2023 she wrote, directed and acted in Ghislaine, about Ghislaine Maxwell, at Ö2Scenkonst, Dieselverkstan and at the Stockholm City Theatre.

After some years living in the US, on a ranch in Montana and in California working as an actress in Los Angeles and Detroit, she moved back to Sweden and attended Stockholms Filmskola. After that she took her Masters at Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH), in “the Art of Impact, directing film”. Currently (2024) she is developing her graduation film, Ogräs, into a feature gothic horror with the same name.

Sara is head of the production company Back in the Saddle, and a co-founder of Teater Gertrude.
